PRESS RELEASE - Pharmacia Animal Health Introduces New HEAL(SM) Program
Received 07-23-01

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BRIDGEWATER, N.J. (July 15, 2001) - Veterinarians will now have a useful new tool to help owners better care for their pets.

It's called Help Educate Animal Lovers (HEAL(SM)) and it's a companion animal wellness and education program tailored specially for veterinarians. Pharmacia Animal Health introduced HEAL(SM) at the recent American Veterinary Medical Association's annual convention.

"The HEAL(SM) program is filled with resources and tools for veterinarians to use to increase awareness and build knowledge among pet owners of diseases, treatment options, and preventive tactics they can use to ensure that their pet is receiving the best health care available," says Julia Stephanus, global marketing director, companion animal business, Pharmacia Animal Health.

"We are dedicated to improving the quality of life for pets by partnering with veterinarians to better educate pet owners."

Pharmacia Animal Health developed HEAL(SM) not only as an educational aid for veterinarians in building disease awareness among pet owners, but also to make sure that owners are using proper treatment methods needed to achieve top results.

"After a veterinarian prescribes a treatment program, we know that owner compliance is critical to the success of the therapy," Stephanus says. "That's why HEAL(SM) includes information to be given to owners with explanations in simple language on how to properly administer the product, as well as other care guidelines."

The initial segment of the HEAL(SM) program includes a veterinarian
companion kit filled with:

  • Medication administration tips and guidelines;
  • Disease awareness information;
  • Pet owner educational videos ; and,
  • Educational content for use in clinic newsletters or Web sites.

The kit's introductory materials focus on building a better understanding among pet owners about oral disease and dermatological health care for their companion animal.

New educational resources and communication tools will be added to the veterinarian kit and HEAL(SM) program over time.

Veterinarians may request kits by calling Pharmacia Animal Health Customer Service at 1-800-793-0596.
